Students are encouraged to participate in the Himalaya Contact classes as there is no real substitute to learning directly from the guru. In addition to the lessons, some mantra initiations are also done during these classes which enable you to be a perfect jyotiṣa paṇḍita.
Please note that students opting for certification will have to participate in the contact classes for one week (at least) in the third and fifth academic years i.e. PJC Year-3 and PJC Year-5 respectively.

This 3A contact-course is held from 30th April 2020 – 12th May 2020

There are several ways to reach the venue, of which three ways are the most common:

1. TAXI to Venue (most reliable and easiest): We’ve taken advantage of Neema’s TAXI service (see details above) which picks you up in Delhi and brings you to the venue. These are trusted drivers of the mountains and know the roads well. Neema knows us since the beginning of the courses and has been very trustworthy and reliable. For those flying into New Delhi, you will have a driver waiting for you upon exiting the terminal and taking you to your destination. Contact Neema or WhatsApp him with your arrival and flight details, and he will confirm with a driver name and license plate upon arrival.
2. TRAIN to Kathgodam (comfortable but complicated): If you are flying into Delhi and don’t mind making your way around the city to find the train station and navigating the ticket-office, then you will have a nice overnight train to Kathgodam. You will require a 1 hr TAXI from Kathgodam to the Venue. For those living elsewhere in India, then this is a very nice option.
3. Flying to Pantnagar (least reliable but best): If you want to spend the least time on the road, then flying into Pantnagar Airport and getting a TAXI from there is the best option. However, often the flights are delayed, then cancelled and instead busses are used to take the passengers to the Airport. You will still need a TAXI from the Airport to the Venue.

Whichever option you chose, know that you will likely have your colleagues flying in at the same time. Do coordinate with them based on your arrival in Delhi, to get the best out of your travel. A TAXI ride from Delhi to the Venue is at MOST 8 hours, with some nice dining and tea stops on the way. IF you coordinate with Neema he can help you arrange your foreign-exchange options and also accepts payments AFTER the trip when at the venue. The cost of the TAXI can also be shared and you will be given two car-options. Do make sure to tip your driver as well.

The schedule of Himalaya Classes for PJC Year-3A is given below. It is possible that we may decide to shuffle some topics and dates. It depends on the number of slides finally made for each topic. We are aware that some of you are coming for just one part of the course. Recordings will be available along with slide PDFs. If adequate rooms are not available, then you may be asked to share one. It is advisable to give your preferences.

Double Sharing is about Rs 2600/- Per person per day including all meals.
Single Sharing Rs.4000/- Per person per day.
